Michael Jordan Invests in the Next Generation of Basketball Players
Michael Jordan is easily the most recognizable sportsperson of this century. With his towering height, most people cannot help but stop in their tracks to stare at this basketball icon who wowed the crowds for over two decades with his incredible acrobatic jumps and dunks on the court. But at the age of 43, Jordan is ready to leave the playing to the next generation and is keen on playing a part in shaping the future of world basketball.
Jordan recently visited Europe where he stirred incredible curiosity among fans who came for a glimpse of their hero. Jordan is a true US player through and through. In fact, he has only played in two major tournaments in Europe in his 20-year career. Yet, from the hysterical reactions of the crowds who came to see him in Paris, it was hard to believe that he wasn?t a popular European player. Despite the crowds and need for bodyguards, Jordan was able to learn a little about the young basketball players on the continent and surprised several delighted players when he dropped in unannounced at one of his camps in Brixton.
Michael Jordan?s latest retirement project is part-ownership of the NBA franchise, the Charlotte Bobcats. He says that as tempting as it is to get onto the court and play again, he is enjoying the role he has of building a team of youngsters, using his many years of expertise as a player and world-hero.
