US Teen Soccer Wonder Set to Train with Manchester United


It?s not every day that American players are invited to train with one of the greatest soccer teams in the world, Manchester United. However, not every player has the sporting ability and talent of 17-year old Freddy Adu, who plays for United States Major League Soccer and for the US club, DC United. Adu will be training with the English Premier League giants, Manchester United for two weeks on November 18th and he has the blessing of his own club to do so.

The invitation to join Manchester United is a dream come true for Freddy Adu. Born in Ghana, it was evident from the start that this youngster had amazing talent for the game of soccer. When he was only sixteen years old, Adu became the youngest player to represent the United States? senior team in a friendly match against Canada in San Diego in January, 2006. He already has two FIFA World Youth Championships behind him, making him the most experienced under-20 country in the country.

In mid-November, Adu will attend a three-day training camp with the under-20 US team in Florida, which will end on the 15th with a match against Guatemala. From there, Adu will fly to England to train with Manchester United for two weeks. The youngster has the full backing of DC United and Major League Soccer. The technical director of his club said: ?This is something Freddy has wanted to do and we completely support him. It will be a good experience for him."
