Manchester United Manager Denies Retirement Rumors
He is probably the most successful football manager in the history of the sports in the United Kingdom, but that hasn?t stopped the rumors flying that Sir. Alex Ferguson, manager of Manchester United, is planning on retiring from his job. Ferguson recently celebrated twenty years as manager for the club and says that it is simply ?scandalous? that people even suggest that he retire.
Sixty-year old Ferguson has a lot to be proud of in his dazzling football career. He has won eight Premiership titles, five FA cups and the 1999 Champions League. The Scotsman has worked with a long list of ?who?s-who? in the UK soccer industry, including Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Peter Schmeichel. In a recent interview, he saluted the Manchester United club in the respectful way that it has continued to play the game over the years, as well as the dedicated spectators ? some of who have been followers of the club for over 50 years.
Manchester United?s captain, Gary Neville, stated that it wouldn?t surprise him if Ferguson continued for another five or ten years as manager of the team. ?Why should he leave?? he asked, ?He?s as determined as ever!? David Beckham, in his autobiography, also lauded Ferguson and wrote that his drive was the most important element in the team?s success over the years. ?He?s a man with a mission!? Beckham declared.
