French Fans Show Concern for Zidane Performance
France`s performance during their World Cup warm-up match against Mexico has left French fans worried, especially in light of the performance of their star player, Zinedine Zidane. We all remember France poor performance during the FIFA 2002 World Cup, and French fans are worried that their national team might repeat 2002`s shame. Zidane is one of the best players ever played for France, but the 33-year-old player was not looking good during the match against Mexico.
Zinedine Zidane announced lately that the upcoming World Cup next week will be his last soccer challenge, and that he will quit professional soccer after the final in Berlin. Zidane is hoping that the World Cup will be his stage for a final glamours note to his international soccer career, but judging by France`s last match things might prove to be different. Zidane was but a shadow of his old self and did not help France reach a miserable 1-0 against the Central American team.
Although fans are worried, coach Raymond Domenech said that he is not worried, and that Zidane still has plenty of time to get in shape before France`s opening Group G match against Switzerland in June 13. Hopefully for the French fans, Zidane will be in shape for France`s match on June 16, against this year`s strong South Korea.
