Crespo Shows Confidence Regardless of World Cup Group

Argentina will play at the toughest group in next month`s FIFA World Cup, but star striker, Hernan Crespo isn`t intimidated, and is positive that their display will be nothing close to their first round elimination four years ago. Argentina was considered as one of the favorites in the last World Cup, but did not manage to bypass the first stage. Hopefully for Crespo, he is right and Argentina will display a better performance.

They face another tough draw in Germany, having been grouped with Netherlands, Ivory Coast and Serbia and Montenegro in Group C. Crespo said the disappointment of 2002 would not affect upon Argentina. "I don?t think we carry any burden from the failure last time," he said. "Football is a question of destiny in many cases."

"For example in the game against Sweden (in the last World Cup), Argentina had a huge number of chances to score and we just couldn?t convert them so we missed out on qualification." Although he viewed Brazil as firm favorites to win the tournament for a sixth time, Crespo said Argentina were capable of beating the champions in a one-off game.
