Turkish Title Goes to Galatasaray

Fenerbanhce`s Turkish Superleague title goes to Galatasaray SK after Chrisoph`s Daum`s team failed to beat Denizlispor. The final results for the Turkish Superleague were made after a highly dramatic final match. Holding the lead going into the final fixtures thanks to a superior head-to-head record against their Istanbul rivals, Fenerbah?e needed only to win to claim their third successive title. But that did not happen.

After being frustrated for much of the game, Mustafa Ke?eli gave the home side a shock lead in the final minute and although Tuncay ?anl? equalized during a lengthy period of added time, a winner proved elusive as Galatasaray?s celebrations began in earnest.

The game in Denizli finished 15 minutes later than the match in Galatasaray, meaning players and fans alike were forced to wait nervously to see if the 3-0 victory against Kayserispor had been enough. Sabri Sar?o?lu (2) and Sasa Ili? had scored the goals in that win, but the celebrations began in earnest when the Fenerbah?e result filtered through, leaving veteran forward Hakan ??k?r elated, saying: "We worked so hard for this and I congratulate everyone at the club. I prayed so much and I`m very happy now."
