Hawks Sign James Lang



Center James Lang was recently signed by The Atlanta Hawks to a 10-day contract, according to Executive Vice President/General Manager Billy Knight. Playing in 31 games this season, the 22-year-old Lang for the Arkansas RimRockers of the NBA Development League, averaging 8.4 ppg and 5.0 rpg. In field goal percentage Lang ranks third in the league, and tied for 24th in rebounding (tied for 19th in offensive boards).

The RimRockers have been designated as the Hawks` D-League affiliate for the 2005-06 campaign. Lang is a native of Mobile, AL, and was named to the USA Today High School Boys Basketball All-USA Second Team following his senior season at Central Park. He was also selected as a 2003 McDonald`s High School All-American. He will wear uniform number 52.

Originally drafted in the second round (48th overall) of the 2003 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Hornets out of Central Park Christian High School in Birmingham, AL, Lang made the club`s regular season roster, but didn`t appear in a game before being waived on December 29, 2003. He spent 2005 training camp with the Utah Jazz, and played in six preseason games, averaging 1.8 ppg and 2.5 rpg.
