Suns Overpower Rockets

Houston got a rude awakening after the All-Star celebrations which ended last week. The Rockets got hammered by the Suns who look to have the Rocket?s number dialed on automatic. When they whipped Houston just prior to the All-Star break Jeff Van Gundy chalked it up to his teaming taking a mental hiatus and going to the break early. This time he blamed it on his team?s inability to make open jumpers. I?m more inclined to agree with him on that count.

Western Conference Player of the Week is a nice positive for a team that has had so many negatives this season. It has to be difficult for Yao Ming to compete at the professional level all year every year without a significant break. I can?t help but wonder how he might play if he actually had the offseason off.

Yao Ming has been stellar since returning from toe surgery. He?s aggressive, he?s scoring at will, and he?s even rebounding like we all think a 7?5? player should rebound. The only thing left is for him to earn a little public praise from Van Gundy. Can he do it?
