France Barely Makes It

They didn`t play like they should. "This is not the way a favorite plays." Those are just a few of the remarks made by fans regarding France`s performance so far. The team that won World Cup 1998 showed weak skills and looked like the shadow of the great team it once was. France drew a tie with Switzerland and another draw with South Korea. They had to win over Togo with a two goals difference. And they did.

France kept its weak performance during the first half of the game, and it looked like it was going to be France`s last game in World Cup 2002, but Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry thought differently. Both players scored during the second half of the game taking France into World Cup`s next round. The fans from France could breathe for a few days, with their team finally providing.

France will face Spain on June 26 for their fight over a quarterfinals ticket. Spain is one of the clear favorites of the tournament and showed amazing skills until now. France will have to show better capabilities if they want to play in Germany 2006 after the match with Spain.
