Mexico Gives Argentina Hard Time on its Way to Meet Germany

This was supposed to be a walk in the park for Argentina, especially after the brilliant performance the South American team gave against Serbia & Montenegro during World Cup`s first stage, but Mexico was determined to make it to the quarterfinals. It took Argentina 120 minutes to end this game and earn a ticket for a head-to-head clash with Germany on Friday.

Mexico opened the game strong with a goal on the fourth minute, leaving the Argentineans overwhelmed. It took Argentina 6 minutes alone to awaken and Crespo scored for the former world champions on the 10th minute. Mexico gave a hard fight and Argentina was not able to score again for the remaining 80 minutes. A goal scored by Messi was ruled out as an offside and the game went into extra time.

The Argentinean midfielder Maxi Rodriguez scored one of the best goals in the tournament after 8 minutes into the extra time and gave Argentina the win.
