Scolari Earns 10 Successive World Cup Victories Record
Portugal played Mexico last week and won 2-1 earning Portugal`s coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, a World Cup record of 10 successive victories as a coach. "Ten wins in the World Cup is the kind of thing that would mark anybody`s life, especially mine," Scolari told reporters after Portugal ended their Group D campaign with three victories from three matches.
Scolari led Brazil all the way to winning their fifth world champions title on World Cup 2002. Brazil played all seven games without losing and with Portugal`s three victories ? Scolari got his ten. Portugal`s coach was happy after the game, and was pleased with the way his players played. "It wasn`t a game where everything was at its best but the way the team carried itself from beginning to end, I think it was good," said Scolari.
Scolari did not want to choose between Argentina and Netherlands and said, "It`s not up to us to pick, it`s they who will choose." Portugal will face Netherlands after the latter draw a goalless tie with Argentina and finishing as Group C`s runner-ups. "When it`s the World Cup, you cannot choose. It`s best that we do our job from day to day and we try to get another win." Scolari said about Portugal`s next match.
