Weak Portugal Beats Angola

Angola was supposed to give Portugal an easy and comfortable way to regain their confidence. After their poor performance at World Cup 2002, facing Angola for the opening match was perfect, but Portugal could not make this advantage work for them. The European scored on the fourth minute and did not manage to score again for the rest of the game.

Angola is not considered a strong team even among the African groups, and Portugal was expected to have a filed day with them. Portugal gave a poor performance and did not play as a team of such quality should play in World Cup. Portugal did get their 3 points, and that`s enough as their captain said after the game, but with performance like the one they showed facing Angola ? things are not looking good.

Angola showed weak skills but was able to keep the Portuguese players at one goal alone. Mexico and Iran both play in the same group and will face Angola and Portugal soon. Mexico gave a brilliant performance during their match against Iran and will make Portugal`s way to the top of the group very hard.
