Paraguay Changes Players Just Before World Cup Begins

Paraguay`s soccer fans were concerned when all-time top soccer player, Jose Cardozo, suffered a torn thigh muscle. Cardozo was ruled out of action for three weeks and won`t play in the upcoming World Cup`s groups stage. Paraguay is playing in Group B and will face tournament favorites England on June 10. Things we`re looking good for the South American team, but now hopes are up once again with news of Roque Santa Cruz joining the team.

Santa Cruz was declared fit for action and will face England with the rest of the Paraguay players on Saturday. `I am looking forward to this game. England is a very strong team with great players, but we believe in ourselves and we have worked hard and prepared well,` said Santa Cruz. Another player who will face England on Saturday is the 22-year-old Dante Lopez who coach Anibal Ruiz called to replace Cardozo.

There are many expectations from Anibal Ruiz in Paraguay. The Uruguayan-born coach has taken the Paraguayan team a long way, but Cardozo`s disqualification comes as a blow to the team. Hopefully, Santa Cruz will be able to cover for Cardozo`s absence. `He is fit to play and he has no problems,` said Anibal Ruiz.
