Juan Veron Heads Back to Argentina
Former captain of Argentina`s national team, Juan Sebastian Veron, left Inter Milan this week and went back to Argentina to play for his former club Estudiantes de La Plata. The Argentinean club was where Veron first played as a soccer professional, and he said that he always dreamt of playing for Estudiantes again.
Veron led Argentina to its quarterfinal match in World Cup 1998, and was the head of the team that suffered a shocking first stage disqualification in World Cup 2002. Veron was overlooked for this year`s World Cup and decided to return to Argentina to play for Estudiantes, where his former Argentina teammate Diego Simenoe is coaching.
The 31-year-old player joined Sampdoria from Boca Juniors in 1996 and went on to Parma, where Veron lead the club to a UEFA Cup win. Veron also played under today`s England`s coach, Sven-Goran Eriksson, in 2000 taking Lazio to a Serie A championship win. Veron also played for Manchester United and helped Alex Ferguson reach the 2002 Champions League semi-finals.
