Crouch Will Open for England after Jamaica Warm Up
After leading England to a brilliant 6-0 against Jamaica in England`s last warm-up match in Saturday, striker Peter Crouch has earn a place in Sven-Goran Eriksson`s opening World Cup team on June 10. England will face Paraguay in their opening Group B match, and Crouch will open. Eriksson was very impressed by Crouch and said, "I think he deserves it."
The 25-year-old striker scored three goals in England`s match against Jamaica, but also missed a penalty. Nevertheless, his performance was brilliant enough and Eriksson has decided to use Crouch against Paraguay next Saturday as well. Crouch was pleased by field cooperation with Owen, and believes that their game together will help England in the upcoming World Cup. "Any time I`ve played with Michael I`ve enjoyed it,` he said on Sky Sports News."He`s a great player and it`s a pleasure to play up there with him."
The game against Jamaica was also Owen`s first full 90 minutes and although he wasn`t at his best performance he gave a strong fight and helped Crouch with his hat-trick goal. `We got 90 minutes out of him and I think he played much better today than the last time he played,` said Eriksson. "That was maybe the answer I wanted. I wanted to see him going into tackles, holding the ball up and doing some sprints, and that`s good news."
