Former Utah Coach Turns Down Nuggets
Rick Majerus, the former coach of Utah, had an offer by the Denver Nuggets on his table. The Nuggets wanted Majerus to become an assistant to George Karl, the Nuggets` Coach, but Majerus turned them down on Tuesday. "He offered me the job a month ago," Majerus told the Rocky Mountain News in Tuesday`s editions. "But I can`t move right now."
The 58-year-old coach worked with Utah from 89 until the beginning of 2004. Majerus stopped coaching Utah due to health reasons, and that is probably why he did not answer favorably to the Nuggets` offer. Majerus is currently living in Milwaukee and works for ESPN as a college analyst.
After announcing his official and last answer, The Nuggets are on the search for an assistant coach. Scott Brooks occupied the position until very recently, but left for Sacramento. Although they are constantly looking, the Nuggets spokesperson, Time Gelt, said there is no timeframe to fill the position.
