USA to Hold 2009 Luge World Championship

The United States is going to host the 2009 Luge World Championship as officials say. The international Luge Federation decided that the tournament would be held in the same site that once hosted the 1932 and 1908 Winter Olympics. The decision was a unanimous one and the offer that was made by the New York Olympic Regional Development Authority and the USA Luge was approved.

Lake Placid will not only host the Luge World Championship but also the Bobsled and Skeleton events. The venue is going to enjoy three major final world events before the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

"We expect the build up in excitement for the 2010 Winter Olympics to kick off with our world championships," USA Luge executive director Ron Rossi said. The tournament will be a great teaser for the upcoming full scale Winter Olympics and it is expected to boost the interest tin the 2010 events.
