Brazil Hires New National Coach

When Brazil lost to France in World Cup 2006 not long ago, it was clear that changes were going to be made, and as expected Carlos Alberto Parreira, coach for the national team, resigned. There was much debate on who will replace Parreira as the coach of one of the best teams in the world of soccer.

The Brazilian soccer confederation announced on Monday that former captain Dunga is going to be Brazil`s new coach. Dunga played as captain for Brazil back in 1994 when Brazil won their forth World Cup title. Soccer officials are hoping that Dunga will be able to lead the national team to victory once again.

"The choice of Dunga will fully satisfy the desires of Brazilian fans who want an enthusiastic coach on the national team," CBF president Ricardo Teixeira said on the confederation`s Web site. Brazil under Dunga will play their first game on Aug 16 against Norway as the two teams meet for a friendship match.
