Blake Beats Roddick to Take Title

The RCA Championship goes to James Blake who was more than happy to see Andy Roddick playing as he used to. Roddick played hard, but that was not enough to stop Blake from taking the title and leaving Roddick completely title-less in 2006. "It`s the best I`ve ever played, then better. That`s what I had to do against Andy," said Blake.

Blake took Roddick`s position as the highest-ranking U.S. man and showed that he deserves the title. This victory makes Blake`s third title win this year, and his sixth ATP win in his career. "I feel like I`ve kind of earned the No. 5 ranking," Blake said. "But I know [Roddick] will be better than that. It is nice to see the old Andy. I look for him to be No. 1 or 2 in this U.S. Open series."

Roddick was not himself lately and there was much criticism against his play. "For six months, I`ve been hearing I don`t know how to play tennis," Roddick said. "You don`t get to No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 without knowing how to play tennis. I`ve been playing badly for a while ... My confidence has been restored." Hopefully, Roddick is back on track and will show better playing next year.
