Woods Take Title for His Father
This British Open was clearly Tiger Woods` most emotional tournament. Woods had buried his father in May and wanted this victory for him badly. Everything that Woods held inside burst out when he finished his last move taking yet another title. "He played at the Masters, and it was the only time I saw him try too hard. Today, there was calmness about him. No doubt he wanted to win this for him," said Steve Williams, the caddie and confidante who stood with him at Earl Woods` gravesite
Woods was sobbing when the tournament ended, he knew that he has accomplished what he wanted the most ? make his father proud of him. "I`ve never done that," Woods said. "But at that moment, it just came pouring out. I was pretty bummed out after not winning the Masters, because I knew that was the last major he was ever going to see. That one hurt a little bit. And to get this one ... it`s just unfortunate he wasn`t here to see it."
Woods gave his competition a very hard time, as usual, and DiMarco simply could not answer. "He`s got an uncanny ability, when somebody gets close to him, to just turn it up another level," DiMarco said.
