South Africa Approach Parreira

Although in Brazil, Carlos Alberto Parreira`s performance as the national coach is regarded as less than impressive, there are other countries that show interest in his skills as a soccer coach. South Africa, hosts of World Cup 2010, has offered Parreira the position of the national South African coach on Friday.

`It`s an honor to receive an invitation from the South African national team as the country will be the centre of attention as hosts of the next World Cup,` Parreira said in a statement. `But this will only happen after sitting down and talking to representatives of the South African federation,` added the 63-year-old.

Brazil`s performance during Germany 2006 was one of the weakest the country has ever shown, but Parreira showed his capabilities back in 1994 when he took Brazil to their fourth World Cup title. The South African`s are scheduled to arrive in Brazil at the start of August to discuss their offer with Parreira.
