Larry MacNeil, the team`s chief financial officer, sat with Santa Carla officials in two occasions during the past month and discussed the possibility of building a new stadium in the Great America amusement park`s parking lot. The design plan for the 49er`s new stadium was unveiled and an update was added as well.
Candlestick Point remains the 49ers "absolute top choice," Lang said. "We really do feel it`s a spectacular site." The team is hoping that it could provide the necessary amount of money for the project to take place. The estimated cost of the project is about $700 million, and 49ers hope to use private funding to supply it.
