Zidane to Face FIFA Committee

Although Zinedine Zidane withdrew from international soccer, FIFA is not willing to forget the infamous incident that occurred on July 9 during World Cup 2006`s final. Zidane head-butted Italy`s defender on account for verbal provocation and was given a red card for it. Zidane will appear before a disciplinary committee on Tuesday in Zurich.

Five members will head the disciplinary committee and will look into the Zidane incident together. They will also look into possible punishments against Italy`s Marco Materazzi who allegedly provoked Zidane and started the fiasco. The Italian defender denied his role in the incident.

FIFA is not saying anything about the exact charges that the two players are facing, but according to FIFA`s disciplinary code, Zidane might be facing a minimum fine of 5,000 Swiss francs and disqualification from at least four matches. Zidane has already retired from international soccer and paying about $4,000 will not be that of a blow for the 34-year-old player. Either way, he would like to put this whole mess behind him.
