FIFA Lifts Ban Over Greek Football Association

Following an emergency committee meeting, FIFA has lifted the ban over the Greek Football Federation, and Greece will be allowed to participate in international matches. The ban was issued on June 3 after FIFA realized that the HFF is not complying with the governing body rules. After new laws were passed in the country, FIFA lifted the ban and Greece is once again in the game.

The new amendment gives the Greek Football Federation more independence in their decision-making process, as FIFA demands. The Greek sports minister sent a copy of the new regulations to FIFA`s president, Sepp Blatter, and the issue was resolved. Greece will play their first international friendly against England on August 16 at Old Trafford.

A FIFA statement said: "In view of this amendment, the FIFA Emergency Committee deemed that the HFF are now in a position to respect the statutes and regulations of FIFA as well as those of UEFA. As a result, the suspension previously imposed on the Hellenic Football Federation has been lifted as of today."
