Montoya to Give Up Formula One for NASCAR

Juan Pablo Montoya, one of the best Formula One drivers in the world, has decided that he drove one too many rounds at Monte Carlo or Melbourne and announced that he will be driving in Darlington and Martinsville during 2007. Montoya will try to translate his motor skills into a NASCAR success.

"It`s not how many millions you`re making or how much money you`re making," Montoya said at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday. "It`s a matter of, three years down the line, are you going to be excited at what you`re doing or not? And three years down the line, when I look at my career, I`ll be a lot happier doing this."

This will be Montoya`s last season and he will leave the McLaren-Mercedes F1 team at the end of it. Montoya will reunite with team owner Chip Ganassi whom he had considerable success in Indy-style racing. "This guy and I have had a lot of fun together over the years," Ganassi said. "I couldn`t be more happy."
