Germany Takes Third Place after Beating Portugal

There is a lot of criticism in the world of soccer about the match that settles whose number three and whose number four in World Cup. Both teams that lost their semifinals game and did not make it to the final have to face each other for another game that determines their ranking. Many people feel that the players are already tired by the afford and that after losing their chance to take the trophy, their spirits are broken and there is no need for another game.

Germany and Portugal proved otherwise on Saturday and delivered one of the most exciting matches in the tournament. Both teams wanted to be remembered as teams that fought all the way, and no one was willing to suffer another defeat. The first half of the game was a goalless display, but the second one was a celebration of soccer action. Germany ended up winning the game 3 ? 1 after two goals by Bastian Schweinsteiger and an own goal scored accidentally by Armando Petit.

Miguel Nuno Gomes scored for Portugal with two minutes left to the game, but that was not enough and obviously too late. Oliver Kahn stepped in, retook his place as Germany`s goalkeeper for all times sake, and gave a great performance. The Germen team looked great and the fans were very pleased. Because this game was not for the trophy and both teams have already lost their chance to claim it, the game was open and aggressive and we all enjoyed a great soccer performance.
