Pekerman Admits Failure

It was a very sad tournament for Argentina. Their vibrant team of excellent soccer players showed remarkable ? and at times even amazing- soccer skills, and many soccer fans around the world were positive that Argentina would go all the way. Something went wrong during their quarterfinals match against Germany and Argentina was knockout before the semifinals. Argentina`s coach, Jose Pekerman, decided to take full responsibility and to retire.

Although the media and soccer fans in Argentina called Pekerman to stay, he is not willing to change his mind as of yet. Pekerman has reiterated his desire to quit as Argentina coach after admitting he had "failed." `We haven`t achieved the goal and this spell is over,` declared Pekerman.

"I feel this is over because we`d said we would play seven games and we didn`t. I feel I have failed we were 10 minutes away from clinching the goal and, as we did not, it is over. The team was stronger mentally and physically. But without a victory, it`s useless and that`s why this is a failure."
