Australian Capitan to Retire

Australia`s captain, Mark Viduka, announced that he might be retiring form international soccer ? for the sake of his children. Viduka lead Australia in its first World Cup appearance in 32 years and took his team to the second round of the tournament. Australia met Italy and following a very questionable penalty shot, was knocked out of World Cup.

Now that the 30-year-old`s World Cup dream is over, he is stating to think about the future. Viduka is contemplating the possibility of leaving the international stage and believes that some of his fellow teammates will do the same. "I think there will be a few leaving," he told Middlesbrough`s official website. "Everyone is getting older and they all have families. I`ll be nearly 35 come 2010."

"I haven`t seen much of my kids for six months, they don`t know who their dad is anymore, and that is very hard to take. I love being with my family and I love being with this family [the Socceroos] as well. I`m going to have a chat with my friends and family and maybe to myself a bit and see where it takes me."
