Giving Credit where Credit is Due
I?m one of the few people that think that Isiah Thomas actually did a nice job retooling the Knicks. I?m aware of the fact that he overpaid to get certain players and that he made a couple of moves he shouldn?t. However, overall I belive he did the best with what he had. The New York is a team that did very well for them, but we?ll get to that later.
First of all, what could have Isiah Thomas have done differently? For starter, he souldnt have signed Jerome James, everyone knew he was going to be a disappointment and then the Knicks went and traded for two more centers in Eddy Curry and Antonio Davis. This made James the lowest guy on the totem pole, making his value next to nothing even though he got a big contract. So don?t sign James, sign Earl Watson instead.
Now let?s discuss the things he has done right. Nate Robinson is going to be a starter or key player in the league for years to come and Channing Frye is the real deal. David Lee is also making a huge impact. If Thomas would have gone the rookie rout and stayed away from trading all his future draft picks, the Knicks might be championship contenders in a couple of years.
