Why Can?t Sixers Get It Together
Everyone expected the Sixers to have a better season than last one after they got rid of former head coach Jim O?Brian. With Mo Cheeks in place as their new head coach all chemistry issues should have been resolved and the team should have been playing above .500 basketball. With the second leading scorer and a 20 and 10 side kick (Chris Webber), the Philly should have been better than this.
Allen Iverson will do everything humanely possible he can to continue to help lead this team as Cheeks is asking him to do, but the time to start showing real progress should happen in days, not weeks - or the Sixers may have to give up hope of catching the Nets, or perhaps even of post-season play. Samuel Dalembert, who missed much of the early part of the season due to a thigh injury, grabs about 10 boards a night and gets about three blocks a game. Perhaps, Kyle Korver will find his stroke again.
Andre Iguodala remains a very potentially talented guard and is an exceptionally good on the ball defender some nights. John Salmon who at 6?7? is a versatile player and a decent defender started in the place of Webber in the past, and has been a rare spark at times off the bench this year.
