Gooden?s Future in Cleveland Questionable

Drew Gooden is at his forth and final year on his contract. If he keeps playing the way he has, Gooden is surly to get looks from teams in dire need of a power forward such as LA, once he becomes an unrestricted free agent. He could potentially command the full midlevel exception. After going on a shopping spree last summer, will Danny Ferry get the green light from management to match outlandish offers on Gooden? Probably not.

Clevland has faced the same scenario a couple of summers ago when Boozer was a free agent. As oppose to Gooden, Boozer was an unrestricted free agent, which meant that he could sign with whichever team he wanted, and te Cavs didn?t have the right to mach. Drew has played some of his best basketball with the Cavaliers, but given that his contract ends this summer, and he is expected to demand upwards of $50 million, it is more likely the Cavaliers cash out Drew than keep him.

The situation gets even more complicated when you factor in rumors than Gooden is not one of head coach Mike Brown?s favorite players ? Drew`s future is Cleveland could be coming to an end. Sources close to the Cavs say the Cavaliers are not actively shopping Drew, but it is commonly believed Drew will be dealt by the trade deadline.
