Philly Needs to Step Up
Iverson is having an MVP like season, leading the league in scoring. Other than Iverson, the Sixers seem to have it all on paper. They have a solid defensive minded center, a viable second option at power forward in Chris Webber, a defensive stopper in Andre Iguodala and a sharp shooter in Kyle Korver. The problem for the 76ers is that it ends here. Philly hardly gets anything off the bench other John Salmons.
Another problem for the Sixers is that they don?t have a true center. Only Dalembert and Stephen Hunter are centers on their roster, but neither one is really a center. They are tall and thin players, like Theo Ratliff but without the muscles. Because of that they will always get pushed around when trying to block out and get rebounds, and because of that the Sixers will never go very far in the playoffs.
On the plus side, they play excellent team defense. Iguodala and John Salmons are very physical guards - but that won`t be enough against a physical team, like the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks or basically most of the other playoff teams in the East. They might be okay against New Jersey.
