Baby Bulls Need to Get Bigger
As we already reported today, the Bulls are looking to make some kind of move before the trading deadline hits. After unloading all of their undesirable contracts on to the Knicks, Paxson is looking to make a trade for two reasons. One, he needs some kind of low post scoring presence. Second, he needs to free up more playing time for Ben Gordon.
When the three main pieces to a team?s backcourt are 6-foot-3 or shorter, you?ve got a problem. If I had to pick any one of those three to go (Ben, Kirk and Chirs), I?d definitely have to say Duhon. Gooden is a guy that?s averaging about 10 ppg and 8 rpg this season, and he?d be a perfect person to stick in the lineup at power forward next to Tyson Chandler (who, surprisingly, has been the most consistent player on this Bulls team over the last dozen games).
Even if Paxson sits on his hands this trading deadline and does nothing, he?ll really need to be aggressive in free agency come July. Paxson himself said that he felt reassured by New York?s draft pick, which looks to undoubtedly be a top-5 selection.
