Boston Comes On Top Either Way
Now that we have had more than one week to asses the effect that the recent trades have had on the teams that took part in making it, some things became evident. First of all, with regards to the question of whether Wally will stay in Boston the answer is an emphatic Yes. he?s likely one of the few guys the Celtics will not look to trade if the season continues to go south, and the other question is will Wally make trading Paul Pierce easier to swallow? The answer there is a bit more complicated.
If it becomes clear that Wally and Paul can?t play together, then trading Pierce becomes reality ? despite what?s said to protect Paul?s ego, the Celtics are growing tired of waiting for Paul to be a franchise player, he?s a top 20 player for sure, but if dealing Paul can get them a guy they can really build around, Paul is more likely to be dealt than Wally.
The real goal is to get this team together, and that was not happening with Ricky Davis and Mark Blount, and the fact that Boston can shed some cap dollars makes this deal all the better.
