Busy First Week for Toronto?s New GM

After getting his wish granted of getting traded out of Toronto, Antonio Davis found himself back in a Raptor uniform earlier this week after the Knicks dealt him to Toronto. If you recall, Davis was very hesitant of coming to New York in the off season after being traded by the Bulls as part of the Eddy Curry deal. However, both Larry Brown and Isiah Thomas managed to convince him to join the team.

It has been a busy week for Toronto?s new GM Wayne Embry who sent little used Aaron Williams packing to New Orleans for two second round draft picks and word hit the street today that he sent guard Jalen Rose to the New York Knicks in exchange for Davis. Rose to new York isn`t a surprise, it`s a move that has been boxed around in the trade ring for the better part of a year. However, it was expected that guard Anfernee Hardaway would be the one coming back to Toronto in any deal.

Both Hardaway`s and Davis` deal are mega-dollar ending contracts and the goal is to create cap room for this coming off-season instead of next, when Rose`s $16.5M would be off the books. The difference is that Davis makes less than Hardaway and Rose who could have been swapped straight up for one another.
