WBC `Female Boxer Of The Year` Award Goes to Laila Ali
World Champion Laila Ali, in celebrating her top-notch performance and determination, will accept the first ever WBC `Female Boxer of the Year Award` this evening, during the 2005 WBC Awards at the Xcaret Ecotourist Park in Cancun, Mexico. During The Night of Champions ceremony, the award will be presented to Ali.
`I am thrilled and honored to be presented with the WBC `2005 Female Boxer of the Year Award,` said Ali. `I am looking forward to receiving the award in person and participating in the celebrations.` Laila Ali, who is undefeated, will also be nominated as the `Greatest Female Champion,` just like her father Muhammad Ali who was awarded the `Greatest Male Champion.`
Never in recent history have so many champions and former champions been brought together. On hand for the festivities will be three of the greatest contemporary boxing stars: Oscar de la Hoya, Erik Morales and Julio Cesar Chavez. WBC awards for 2005 will also be presented to Floyd Mayweather, Jermain Taylor, Many Pacquio, Jose Luis Castillo, Diego Corrales, Thomas Adamekz and others during the celebration of the Night of Champions.
