Giants lose but still in playoff contention
If the New York giants end up making it into the playoffs, something still possible in spite of their six losses in the last seven matches, their fans might even forgive quarterback Eli Manning`s poor outing on Monday. The second year quarterback himself called the game "awful," an apt statement for his performance completing 9 of 25 passes for a lowly 74 yards.
Even after falling to the Saints 30-7, the Giants (7-8 after starting the season 6-2), amazingly enough, are still in control of whether they make it into the postseason. Winning the final game of the season, on Saturday, in Washington would be enough.
In Tiki Barber`s final game at home, the halfback carried the ball 16 times for 71 yards. The Saints` runningback Reggie Bush, leading candidate for rookie of the year, ran for a career high 126 yards and one touchdown. His teammate Deuce McAllister ran for 108 yards and a touchdown. Manning described the Giants` situation saying "I don`t know what the scenario is, but if some crazy situation happens and we get in, we`ll take it and be ready."
