Nash dishes season high 20 assists in Suns win

The streaking Phoenix Suns won their seventh straight game, this time against the Sacramento Kings, 127-102, Tuesday night. Business as usual? Not entirely. The suns topped their successful streak and high flying game with a season high assist total by Steve Nash, who made 20 successful passes that led to baskets made by his teammates. The reigning MVP came two assist short of his career high set last year.

"We were playing Suns basketball and Steve was making some great passes," said Shawn Marion, who scored 23 points. The team shot 49.5% from the field. Nash himself made three of his four three-point attempts and finished the game with 11 points. The Kings, who played without Ron Artest, lost for the fourth straight game.

The NBA single-game assist record is 30. It was set by current Chicago Bulls Coach Scott Skiles, when he played for the Orlando Magic in 1990. Nash leads the league with about 11 assists per game. He also leads in the hypothetical category of assists per 48 minutes with 15. If Nash would repeat his performance level of the past two years, which have won him two MVP awards, the Suns will be a force to reckon with come post-season.
