McGrady suffers concussion, Rockets go on to win
The Houston Rockets were reminded Saturday what a liability it is to build a team around a single superstar or two. Unlike the Detroit Pistons or the Phoenix Suns, who missing Ben Wallace this year or Amare Stoudemire last year, respectively, the rockets do not have a fill-in for either of their stars Yao Ming or Tracy McGrady.
With less than two minutes left in the first quarter, McGrady got hit in the face with an inadvertent elbow by teammate Dikembe Mutombo. McGrady went down and stayed on the floor for a minute, until he got up and walked to the bench covering his face. Eventually he was walked to the locker room, and was reported to have suffered a Grade 1 (mild) concussion.
The Rockets overcame the scare and went on to win 81-63. In games McGrady missed with an injury last year, the Rockets were 2-15. He is expected to return to action on Tuesday night when the Rockets will host Golden State.
