Comeback Win for Agassi at US Open
Many, including Andre Agassi himself, believed that the 36-year-old tennis player was facing the end of his career, but a great game at the U.S. Open that ended with a glorious victory proved otherwise. "To be out there for that long," Agassi said, "gives me hope for what I can push myself through." A larger-then-usual crowed gave Agassi the powers he needed and pushed him to victory.
Agassi opened the game in an unfavorable manner and things were not looking good at some point. "It was pretty bleak there in the middle of that third set," Agassi said. "That was a big turnaround set." Agassi found the strengths to reverse the course of the game and managed to mark another, very crucial, victory.
Agassi has many titles under his belt, with the 1994 and 1999 U.S. Open titles belong to him. Agassi has eight Grand Slam titles, and ended as a runner-up for four times. Agassi felt that participating in this year`s event as well was important for him. "To not compete this year, not try to get myself right, not try to get myself through it, I would feel like I was quitting more than retiring," he said.
