Massa Takes First, Alonso Second

Even though the Turkish Grand Prix was won by Felipe Massa making it his first F1 Grand Prix win ever, this race belonged to Fernando Alonso. Renault`s driver managed to keep Michael Schumacher from getting the second place, and extended his lead in the drivers` championship to 12 points. This was an important win for Alonso in a battle the matters the most ? who will be this season`s best driver?

Alonso currently has 108 points with four races to go, and Schumacher stand with 96. A 12-point difference separates Alonso from losing his title of the current reigning F1 champion. Things in the teams` race are even closer. Renault is in the lead with 160 points followed by a very close Ferrari with 158.

The quiet winner of the Turkish Grand Prix was Massa, Schumacher`s team co-driver, who won his first Gran Prix race. "It`s like a dream come true," said Massa, choking back tears after his first win in 67 races. "It`s just amazing. Just looking back at everything, I did in my life to get here. It`s a fantastic day for me."
