United Pursuit of Hargreaves Upsets Bayern

Bayern Munich doe not like Manchester United`s pursuit of England Midfielder Owen Hargreaves and threatened to report their actions to FIFA if they continue to promote this matter. All interests in the 25-year-old player must cease, "`Otherwise we will turn to FIFA,` Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the Munich-based tz newspaper on Tuesday.

"A club may only contact a player when the club holding his contract agrees to it," said Rummenigge. Manchester United`s manager, Alex Ferguson, did confirm last Friday that the team is interested in bringing Hargreaves to Old Trafford and although Bayern does not like the notion, the player himself said that he would like to move to United as well.

Hargreaves`s contract with Bayern ends in 2010, and speculations made by sports newspapers point that Manchester United might be ready to pay 25 million euros to break that very contract. The player did not play on Bayern Sunday`s 2-1 win over Bochum due to slight illness, but will be fit for playing soon.
