Formula One Remains at Indianapolis for another Year

Indianapolis Motor Speedway will remain Formula One`s host for at least another year, as an extension contract was signed. The new agreement was signed last Wednesday, by Speedway chief executive, Tony George. Other details were not disclosed. "It`s very important for us to be able to continue to bring Formula One racing to the fans in the United States and specifically to the fans at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway," said the track`s spokesperson.

Indianapolis is the only place in the United States to host F1 races. The first U.S. Grand Prix was held in 2000, and for now will be held remain in Indianapolis. The next race is scheduled for June 17, 2007. "Tony George and the Speedway are committed to keeping the U.S. Grand Prix in Indianapolis for a long, long time," said the spokesperson. "This shouldn`t be a message of any type that this event doesn`t have a long-term future."

The Indianapolis location stirred a controversy last year when 14 out of the total 20 drivers boycotted the runway due to safety reasons. It seems that all disagreements were settled, and hopefully the next race will be trouble and controversy free.
