NFL Owner Bids for English Soccer Club

The English soccer club, Aston Villa, might be moving to American hands, as billionaire NFL owner, Randy Lerner, had bid for the club and willing to pay $118.8 million for it. Lerner is the owner of Cleveland Browns and apparently is eager to follow the footsteps of Tampa Bay Buccaneers` owner, who bought Manchester United last year.

Lerner is expected to take full control of the team as Aston Villa`s board recommended that the deal will go through. Lerner will be in control in within months. "The basis for acquiring Aston Villa is that it is a storied club dating from the 1870s with periods of treasured memories and glory," Lerner said.

"The opportunity to be a part of strengthening Villa`s business operations and facilities represents a broad set of challenges that I`m eager to take on." Aston Villa is one of the most popular soccer clubs in England and has many fans worldwide. With Lerner`s deal going through there will be four foreign owners in the Premier League.
