Liverpool to Meet Haifa in Kiev

Although cease-fire is in effect in the Middle East as both Lebanon and Israel accept the UN resolution, UEFA is still set on denying Maccabi Haifa`s home-match to be played in Israel. UEFA has decided that due to security reasons all international and club matches will be played outside of Israel`s territory, and now issued a statement saying that Maccabi Haifa`s match against Liverpool will be played in Kiev, Ukraine.

Liverpool won the third qualifying round 2-1 and is schedule to meet Haifa again on August 22. Elements in the Israeli Soccer Association plan to issue another appeal, as the last one did not yield favorable results, and will address UEFA officials soon enough.

Not only that during the arms conflict in the north of Israel, UEFA refused to allow European matches to be held in the South and very safe part of Israel, but now with both sides removing their fingers from the trigger, UEFA is still unwilling to allow Haifa their important second leg to be held in house. One would think.
