Wilson Marks His First PGA Victory

Dean Wilson, the known partner of Annika Sorenstam, now has something to show for himself as well. Wilson won his first PGA victory on Sunday beating Tom Lehman. Wilson always said that playing with Sorenstam "was a great experience. But that`s what I always kept telling myself: `Dang it, I got to win a tournament so I can be known for something else.`"

Wilson`s best achievement on a PGA tournament before the win was a tie for the third place. The 36-year-old player from Hawaii did not have an easy career. He was not good enough to get a scholarship and did not make it at Brigham Young. Wilson took his career overseas and played in Australia for two years, two more in Canada and four in Asia.

"There is an internal battle that you have with trying to compete with everyone else on the mainland. When I said I wanted to [play on tour] and that was my goal, it seems like I heard a lot of people saying it cannot be done. You can`t beat those guys, they`re so good," Wilson said. However, Wilson proved that it can be done, and with his victory on Sunday showed that hard work and dedication pay off at the end.
