Bennett Wants New Arena for His SuperSonics

Clay Bennett, the new owner of the SuperSonics, is not happy with the team`s home arena. Bennett is looking for a `world-class` facility modeled after Safeco Filed. "As we`ve said before, we don`t believe KeyArena is a satisfactory facility," Bennett said Wednesday. Bennett bought the Sonics and WNBA Storm in July 18 and this week was his first trip to Seattle. Bennett mentioned that the team`s future in Seattle would be a direct cause of the facilities that Seattle offers the SuperSonics.

"That`s the idea we have in mind, the development of the finest building in the world. Where that ends up, I don`t know," Bennett said. "We want to develop that profile ... and everything in our minds today is on the table." Officials in Seattle said that the city wants to keep the team in place and those previous plans of remodeling KeyArena are still available. All parties hope that an agreement can be made, and both Bennett and the city of Seattle will be pleased.

The SuperSonics` current arena was remodeled before back in 1994. The lease on KeyArena expires on 2010 and by then Bennett will have a better idea on where and how his new `world-class` arena dream will materialized.
