US Basketball Team Faced First Real Opposition

The United States Basketball team has shown great performance with two full scale outbursts, but has finally run into some competition in the World Basketball Championship. Although the US team believed that the tournament will be a breeze, facing the world`s top basketball teams without Carmelo Anthony, who suffered an injury during their last game, might prove to be a hard thing to do.

Anthony had to step down during the game against Brazil following a knee injury that almost cost the United States the match. The US team finished with a 90-86 shacking victory. When asked on when will Anthony play again, team director Jerry Colangelo said that it is too early to say. Anthony could be out for three days or maybe more.

The US coach said that "The injury doesn`t look like its serious," and hopefully Anthony could play again soon. The game against Brazil showed the players that there is hard work to be done, and it will better their performance in the future. "We needed to be tested, and tonight we showed a lot of pride," said Joe Johnson.
