Barthez Wants to Continue

Fabian Barthez, the famous French goalkeeper, left his club, Olympique Marseille, in May and stayed without a club ever since. Now Barthez announced that he wants to play soccer for two more seasons, and that means he will need to find a new club that will take him.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper played in this year`s World Cup final when France lost to Italy following Zidane`s head-butting incident. The defeat does not make any difference to Barthez who said that he wants to continue his international career as well. "If I have to go for one or two extra years, I will," Barthez was quoted as saying. "I still feel like I can give something to the youths or help them learn. Soccer means everything to me."

Barthez, in his prime, was considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He played on the France team that won World Cup 1998 and has many European and club titles. Although Barthez said prior to World Cup 2006 that the tournament will be the finish note of his soccer career, it seems that we will see the French player on the field for at least two more years.
