Second Sample for Landis Turns Out Positive

Floyd Landis is no longer regarded as the Tour de France champion. He still wears the yellow jersey and his name is officially written as the winner of this year`s race, but many people believe that those are mere technicalities that will change soon enough. Landis is suspected of using forbidden drugs that enhance physical performance and has been tested negative for the second time.

On Saturday, Landis` "B" sample came back positive, just like his initial testing. If Landis will lose his title for using drugs, then he will become the first winner in Tour de France`s history to lose his title over a drug abuse charge. Further testing needs to be conducted and there is still time before official decisions are made. Landis himself is planning to appeal any decision, and we will have to wait and see how things develop.

Landis is sticking to his claims, and says that he did not cheat in Tour de France 2006. "I have never taken any banned substance, including testosterone," he said in a statement. "I was the strongest man at the Tour de France, and that is why I am the champion."
